1.) Soft Opening of the University Library. After a year of completed construction, the newly-built University Library had its soft opening on May 06, 2015, attended by the UP Mindanao community and no less than the former Chancellor, Prof. Gilda C. Rivero. PhD, who was in Davao City for another official engagement. Amidst time and resource constraints, the University Library took advantage of the chance to invite Dr. Rivero as Guest Speaker, which was a very fitting honor to her who was instrumental in securing funds for the building. Construction of the building started during the first term of incumbent Chancellor Sylvia B. Concepcion. Architectural design and construction were bidded out to private contractors, with concept provided by University Librarian Dr. Briccio M. Merced, Jr.
